Nitro is user-focused
Nitro provides account-level features to the subscriber. Discord currently includes two server boosts with the standard Nitro subscription and offers a discount on additional boosts.
Nitro and Server Boosts are related but not interchangeable. Nitro is attached to a user subscription; server boosts are applied to communities to unlock server perks.

A boost is allocated to a server. Enough allocated boosts unlock server levels or can be assigned to certain additional perks.
A Nitro subscriber can apply included boosts to a server and purchase more if needed. The useful comparison is therefore not “either/or” but whether the user benefits justify Nitro in addition to the server’s boost requirements.
